Brazil is a country of intense cultural life. It is in the pursuit of leisure where Brazil excels. World class beaches, Copacabana and Ipanema, that are available to everyone, the perfect climate, described as a blend of summer and spring, Brazil lives in and for the sun. It stands to reason that the tiniest, sexiest swimwear in the world began on Brazil’s tanned, fit bodies, adorned in Brazilian bikinis.
The first public appearance of a bikini graced French beaches in 1947. Made popular by Ursula Andress in Dr. No, bevies of “Bond” girls, the song, “Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini” and the annual, much anticipated, “Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue”, the iconic Itsy Bitsy beach couture has always commanded attention.
Fashion Week in Rio revealed the latest annual line of Brazil’s tradition of igniting beaches with sex appeal in provocative, sensual and suggestive attire for fun in the sun. And, just like Rio Carnaval, it exemplifies the euphoric atmosphere, the warmth of Brazil and the sum of their culture. Dance, song, party and the pursuit of leisure, leaves little left to the imagination in Brazil, like their famous beachwear, Brazilian bikinis.
Bikinis are brief swimsuits comprised of a top and bottom. “Brazilian” is defined by the style of the bottoms. The sexy suit sits low on the hips and is designed to suggestively accentuate the feminine, curvaceous, lower body. Around the globe, women prefer sexy, strategically cut, curve flattering, Brazilian bikinis.
The bottoms range in style from micro, being the smallest in the selection, for the bravest babe, undaunted by exposing a whole lot of skin. As expected, micro’s are constructed with a small amount of fabric for minimal coverage both front and back. Mini string with V-back swimsuits offer slightly more coverage. The true classic Brazilian bikinis sport full coverage front with a bare, thong-style bottom, turning heads on the beaches they decorate. Tops are available in sliding halter tops and padded halter tops. Triangle tops are offered in small and medium coverage.
Variations on the typical theme are the full pucker style bottoms that enhance the derriere contours with ruched stitching down the center of the back. Half pucker varieties have the ruched details down the center back half of the bikini bottom with less coverage, exposing considerably more skin.
As Brazil’s tiny suits leave little to the imagination, the artistry of the design, offered in this season’s popular colors and exotic patterns, creates flattering attention to the round, female form. The brilliance of the suit is in the art of the cut, allowing brevity to accentuate the female shape. Although, “the girl from Ipanema” displayed a body that exemplified discipline and determination, all that is required is the confidence of feeling comfortable in your own skin to sport the sexiest swimwear on the beach today.
Brazilian bikinis reign supreme on beaches and poolside this year. Still small and trim, the designers have endowed this year’s version with slightly fuller coverage in back. The look is luxury and glamor, conjuring images of Brazil’s beautiful people, sunny beaches, exotic, decadent dining, rain forests, waterfalls and hot fashion.
